Comment on "In denial about technology"

Nice post, Joe. And you’re right, there isn’t a thing associations do these days that isn’t touched by technology, whether directly or indirectly. Those face-to-face meetings? All kinds of technology required there (e.g., wireless connectivity, possibly a mobile app, maybe skype or some other telephony). The list goes on and on.

Did he give a tangible example of what that conversation might look like in action for any individual association, one with the degree of specificity of his Amazon example? Or could you even offer one using ASAE?
His assertion is interesting, but it lacks much definition of “right” and “wrong”, but perhaps he explored that [...]

Notice the common thread in both articles. The chief decided the policy and then the chief made the changes necessary for the organizational culture to support the policy. Buzzwords about chickens, eggs, strategy and policy are often unnecessary. It’s people we’re talking about. Organizational leaders set the tone, for policy, for strategy and whether we [...]

The polio report is not an organization’s Annual Report, though. It is an independent critique of a particular activity.
An association-commissioned report on an activity related to a particular industry can also be expected to be frank or even critical. That’s its purpose.
An association’s annual report, on the other hand, is a promotion for [...]

Hi Joe!
You don’t have to be an introvert to feel like skipping a volunteer opportunity where you don’t know anyone.
People make decisions based on emotion and justified by logic.
If I don’t feel welcome, I’m less likely to show up.
Associations can help shift this by having an active on-boarding and/or welcome process.
Chapters who have embraced having [...]
